A press release specified that Severstal, which already owns 29.7% of Celtic and managed to make arrangements with Barrick Gold on the acquisition of another 6.6% stake, has raised its takeover bid from 2.70 pounds to 2.80 pounds per share. Furthermore, the Russian structure is prepared to pay 2.90 per share if it succeeds in consolidating more than 80% of Celtic securities. "This will provide Severstal-Resource with the right to launch forced buyout of all remaining Celtic shares from the latter's shareholders in accordance with the Irish Takeover Panel Act" – the press release said.
